Below you will find more information regarding cash games:
What is a cash game?
A ‘cash game’, also known as a ‘ring game’, is a poker game played for real money. The chips on the table have a real money value and players join the table action by buying in with real money.
Unlike tournaments, there is no start or finish time to a cash game. Theoretically, the action can continue around the clock provided there are at least two players seated at the table. Due to the nature of cash games, players come and go quite frequently. Players join the table and then leave when they choose.
What cash games are available?
In the Vernons Poker lobby you can check out which cash games are available. By scrolling down the list of games, you are able to make your cash game selection based on the following considerations:
- Type of game = Choose between Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Limit, No-Limit and other games.
- Stakes = The lower the stakes, the lower the amount of cash you will be required to bring to the table.
- Players = You can select whether you want to play heads-up, short-handed, or at tables with 10 players.
- Average Pot = The average pot size data will help give you an idea how much money is involved in each hand.
- Hands/Hour = This figure will give you an idea how fast the action is at the table.
How do you join a cash game table?
To join a cash game, either double click on its name, or else click the “Join Table” button in the lobby. You will be given the option of choosing how much money to bring to the table. If a table currently has no seats available, you may choose whether to join its waiting list. For further details please check our Join Our Poker Tables page.
Advice for joining a cash game
Before you take your seat at the cash game it is advisable to observe the table action for a short time. By doing this, you can see whether the players playing at that table are aggressive or passive, how much cash they have available in chips and how frequently they go all-in. Knowing what kind of action is taking place helps you decide whether to join or not.
