The rules

The classic wheel, a ball, and a gaming table make up the decor for one of the world’s most played casino games of all time: roulette. The live version of this game doesn’t differ from the traditional game we’re all familiar with at the casino. The outcome of a game of roulette depends on where the ball ends after the dealer spins the wheel as it’s the player’s task to predict where the ball is going to land. If this prediction is correct, the player wins. With an incorrect outcome, the player loses his or her bet to the house. The exact win depends on the bet you made before the dealer spinned the wheel as there are different options to bet on:

  1. Single Number Bet
  2. Colour Bet
  3. Dozen Bet

European, French, and American roulette

In order to explain the rules of the roulette game we will need to make a comparison between European, French and American roulette — the three most popular roulette versions. The rules of European roulette are generally easy to understand. European and French roulette have the same wheel and number of numbers. Unlike American Roulette, there is only a single zero box on the wheel, in addition to the other regular 36 numbers. Therefore, French and European roulette have a much lower house edge than American roulette. This is due to the extra zero added to the American version meaning that the player has an extra chance of losing, as balls landing in the zero pocket provides the house with a higher house edge.

How to win

We’re passionate about everything that concerns live dealer casinos and just about all of our casino pros have at least a few years of roulette experience. In order to write this Live Dealer Roulette game review we have put our heads together leading to the tips and tricks you can find below. The good thing is that these apply to online roulette as well.

1. Get the most out of our roulette bonuses

If you play roulette online on a regular basis you may know how difficult it is to find proper roulette bonuses. Slot fanaticos have all the bonuses to choose from, while a lot of roulette players need to deal with bonus terms that are just not feasible. This is why our casino experts have made some extra efforts to find the best live roulette bonuses for you. This means the bonuses are either fully or partially valid for live roulette dealer games. We’ve done all the work for you and all you need to do is claim what’s yours. Thank us later!

2. Play French Roulette La Partage

We would never recommend people to play European roulette or even worse, American roulette. Doing so will literally give the casino a bigger house edge than necessary. We always stick to French Roulette although it is true that not all live casinos offer this variant. As live casino lobbies are getting bigger and more varied, we recommend you to look up the live dealer games that work with the French Roulette rules. French roulette is almost the same as European roulette, but gives players some extra benefits as it gives them back 100% of the stake if they manage to make a win after hitting the Zero pocket.

3. Get comfortable with the roulette game and your bets

It is of course crucial to understand the roulette game and the different variants available before you speed things up. This may sound a bit silly as roulette is one of the easiest games to understand. Yet, there are still players that bet with large amounts not knowing that the La Partage rule or other side bets actually make a big difference. You’ll need to know what you’re doing as this is one of the games high rollers are most attracted to. Therefore: get to know the exact rules of the game you’re wanting to play, know what the payouts are, get familiar with the different types of bets, and place your bets once you understand it. Online casinos offer a demo version for their online casino games so you might want to check that out before you move on to the live dealer game that does require a real money bet.

4. Set both profit and loss limits

Now that you know how to play Roulette, which variant to play, and where to play French Roulette it is time to set a profit and loss limit as you’re about to move on to the next step of making a bet with real money. Everyone clearly knows more or less how much money he or she can lose, although some might get a bit too pumped in the heat of the moment, which is where things can get out of control. It is therefore crucial to have an exact idea of how much money you can lose or win before you want to stop playing. Having a precise, predefined profit and loss limit will make sure you stick to it — even when things get really excited.

5. Increase your bets when you win, decrease them when you lose

Our advice is to play offensive roulette always, as we always believe you should play to win. What you basically need to do here is bet more when you win. Some strategies suggest that you need to increase your bets whenever you’re losing, but we believe you should make the most out of your winning streaks and step down when you see that luck isn’t on your side. Doing so will avoid you reaching your loss limit too quickly. Play to win, not to lose.

6. Roulette is a mind game and requires discipline

One of the hardest parts of roulette is the mental part. When you’re winning it’s obviously very easy and all of the above makes even more sense. In reality, you will have a lot of losing moments as well which means things can get a bit demotivating. Once you’ve found yourself a strategy that works well, you should always stick to it and remain disciplined. Stay confident and play confident. You’re dealing with a tough opponent, but you’re here to win.

How to play

A live casino offers the same experience as a physical casino, but works with a live stream to give you the real casino vibe and doesn’t require you to step out and head to the casino floor yourself. With a real dealer leading the game, well-known casino games such as live roulette, live blackjack, live baccarat and live poker can be played in most casinos. Learning how to play live roulette isn’t very complicated and just requires some extra attention in case you’re playing on the variants you don’t yet fully master. Generally, you should be able to play the game by following the steps below:

1. Create an account at a reliable online casino

Before players can play live casino games, they must first register with a reliable online casino. This is free at all casinos. More and more online casinos offer the option to play live casino games and with your online account you can make use of other platforms like the live dealer lobby or sometimes even a sportsbook. All casino websites we recommend in our toplist offer live casino games and pretty much all of them feature multiple live roulette options. You’ll find Evolution games at most casinos, and often productions by Pragmatic Play Live and Ezugi — amongst others — are also available at a lot of operators.

2. Make a deposit

Before you can join the live roulette table, you’ll first need to deposit money into the player account. This is a very straightforward step as there should be various payment methods available to choose from. Unlike online casino games there is no free demo version available which means you can only make a bet if you’ve got some credits on your account. In case you don’t, you can always check out the table you want to play at and see whether you look at the atmosphere and the dealer responsible for the game.

3. Choose your live roulette game

Most live roulette lobbies feature different games. All of the roulette variants are placed in the roulette lobby so once you’re there it’s up to you if you want to stick to standard roulette or take a look at other games like Double Ball Roulette, Immersive Roulette, and Lightning Roulette.

4. Play with moderation

It’s time to play and shine. Live Roulette is actually one of the most straightforward games there is, but with some of the slightly different variants available it is always a good idea to start with a low amount of money and increase your stakes along the way, once you feel more comfortable with the game. You should play each casino game with moderation and this is certainly true for a high paced game like roulette.

The features

The standard version of Live Roulette is the most played live dealer roulette game available online and is offered by different providers like Evolution, Pragmatic Play Live, and Authentic Gaming. Whatever game developer you prefer, their Live Roulette game will be optimised for the best possible live casino experience on each device. The separate roulette variants make sure both experienced and novice players have some extra options that meet that skills. All roulette tables work with HD live streams from either live dealer studios or brick and mortar casinos. Most providers offer multiple camera angles making sure their players won’t miss any of the live action. The same holds for different tables with different betting limits and private tables for high rollers. Live Roulette is readily available in English but is also offered in other languages like French, Swedish, Spanish, Polish, Turkish, and Arabic. There are also different tables in terms of betting limits, while the private tables are exclusive for high rollers.

RTP

The Return To Player (RTP) percentage is usually quite easy to cope with when it comes to slot games, but in the case of table games like roulette, things can get a lot more tricky as there are many variants and side bets available. To give you a complete overview of some of the most important roulette games available online, we have listed the most played variants including their payout percentages. For determining the variant’s house edge and the payout percentages, it is not important whether you play in a live casino or an online version of roulette. Please note that some of the games below are in fact specific live dealer games.
